Artist's Description
South Pacific Atoll...During WWII,. my dad was a radioman in a Gruman TBF-Torpedo Bomber off the USS Princeton CV-23. After a bombing run near Truk, where they took small arms fire, which apparently punctured the fuel tank they ran out of fuel and had to ditch in the ocean. They all 3 men made it and floated with the tides for 3 days in their raft. They finally made it to an atoll where they spent another couple of days before being captured by a Japanese patrol. He wouldn't talk much about it but this is what I imagined the atoll to look like.
